Monsoon Atelier — perfumes that follow the wind

What this kind of site has to do
Fragrance doesn't come through a screen, so most perfume sites fall back on notes pyramids and adjectives that all sound alike. A small house selling twenty scents online has to give buyers a reason to pick one, and a low-risk way to smell it before paying full price.
The approach
The range follows a fictional 1931 voyage from Banda to Manila: five ports, each a chapter of four scents, so browsing reads like turning pages of a travel journal. 'One page from each port' introduces a representative scent per stop from $145, a journal carries the story, and a discovery kit lets buyers pick any five as 2 ml samples for $22, credited toward a full bottle.
What the study demonstrates
A literary, illustration-led storefront where the catalog is the narrative: route-based navigation across five port chapters, a build-your-own sample kit as the low-risk first purchase, and a 'Letters from the route' signup that keeps the story going after the visit.
The number this site is built to move
Discovery-kit orders per visit, and kit-to-full-bottle conversion.
What we'd A/B test first
'Build your kit' vs. 'Shop all scents' as the primary hero action.
